It all began with great parents! I got my spunk and can-do spirit from my dad. My mom taught me to see the best in people as she inspired and encouraged the coach within me. As a child, I would eavesdrop on her conversations, realizing even then that she had a special gift. She was a great listener and easy to talk to. Her warmth, wisdom and empathy made her the go-to family member and friend. I am also the one people go to for support and guidance in dealing with life’s challenges. Perhaps the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. |
As a freshman in college, I was unsure about my career path until I took an introductory psychology course, fell in love with it and the rest is history. This led to a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University, which laid the foundation for my career in coaching. I am a Graduate of the Coach University Coach Training Program and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation, of which I am a member. I am also a member of the American Psychological Association-Society for the Teaching of Psychology.
Upon graduating, I was offered a position as a counseling psychologist at a community counseling center. Back then I thought, it really doesn’t get any better than this, until years later when I discovered life coaching. Life coaching was the bridge from insight to action, from helping people grow to helping them change. I soon realized that it really doesn’t get any better than that.
While coaching is my first calling, teaching is a close second. This led to a position as a coordinator of training and development/employee relations counselor at a large financial institution and later to my role as an adjunct professor of psychology at a community college. I continue in my role as teacher/public speaker by developing and presenting workshops on a variety of topics related to personal growth and life changes. I am a firm believer in following your passion, even if it takes you down more than one path.
Like my clients, I too have experienced my share of change and transition. From discovering who I am, to giving myself permission to be who I am. From wearing several different hats over the course of my career, to honing in on the one I love the most. I have learned that with age comes not only wisdom, but a deeper sense of self-awareness and commitment to the work of becoming the best 'me' possible.
In addition to my role as a Life Mastery Coach, I am a wife and the mother of an adult son. I enjoy outdoor pursuits including hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and archery in addition to reading, touring historic homes, antiquing and gardening. Maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle is one of my top priorities as well as being fully engaged in the on-going process of personal growth. I find few things more rewarding than assisting others in their quest to do the same.
But enough about me…tell me about you! I would love to hear your story and learn more about your strengths, challenges, goals and dreams. I would be honored to be a part of your journey.
